As If I Knew What Hit Me

A Poem

Photo by Jack Finnigan on Unsplash

The sticks go on their
march of dismay casting shadows
like the hands of a clock
Troubled nights go waiting & wanting
for analysis
Tripping on every step
a bloody mess arrived in my bed
taking on the whole room
as sounding board
Crystalized venom un-vialed
unrivaled in the dark
for its glow
A new drug casts aspersions
on everyone everywhere
but doesn’t take on the rumours
A mask of invulnerability
