Joy channeled in drifting wheels of desire
to dissipate stress-borne aggression
the bicycle buoying a kick of exultation,
dense tyres moving morning to morning
the infatuation pedaling jubilant passion,
crushing the muddy streaks in asphalt,
cooing, crackling sparks euphorically,
flurrying leaves and lacerated spirit alike,
blotting the ‘work from home’ blues,
trampling the toggle of blinking screens
to detoxify the skull and shoulder blade,
pumping adrenaline in the frame of lungs
to rejuvenate enroute leisurely wandering,
warding off data by incanting flower petals,
dappling the drab shadows of weariness
with crystal clear cheers of healing light,
airing heartiest wishes crammed in closet,
the ritual roared, flew, then trickled to ebb,
brain’s burning wicks exasperate for now
however braving incessant workload
the red bicycle with metallic ‘tring’ stays
tweaked lovelorn in the shed of garden
for countless weeks turning to months,
untouched, unpampered, bypassed
like a favourite story read over and again,
then stacked away without any malice,
an unexceptional slot of love and betrayal.

In response to the Saturday prompt ‘infatuation’ by J.D. Harms in Scrittura.
