LOVE AND RELATIONSHIPS

Dark Side of Your Heart

A free verse poem

Is the side of the moon
that is rumored to be dark
also cracked
like the calcification
of hope meandering
through the veins of my heart?

Are lunar flares silenced
like mine
creating a chiaroscuro of dreams
void of feelings
an absolute abyss of affection
to the point of no return —
in this dark side of love?

Here, where my body glows
beside that chasm
and you look away as I stand — alone
teetering so close to the edge?

sometimes
the disappointment
the deflation
the desperation
become too conspicuous
too clear
to be counteracted by
love’s lilting languages
by skin’s imploring thirst

I write about love and loss, what I observe and experience — I write about hope. My writing has been described as resiliently defiant. Editor at Scrittura.
