Like Hidden Moments

Of our dreams

Sometimes a primal sound,
like maybe ocean surf
or the wind sighing through trees,
reminds us suddenly
of all the hidden silence
always underneath our life,
the conscious silence
everywhere inside the universe,
woven deep in every moment,
the whisper of eternity
across our endless inward sky,
bringing meaning to our life.

Our experience of living slides
through all the passing moments
like rain
sliding down a window,
though all the while
something persistent
and inexpressible inside us
reminds us we’re not just flesh
and blood and bone,
the intelligence that births
the fleeting beauty
of the here and now,
the inexpressible becoming
every moment,
is weaving through our life,
bringing us always
closer to itself.

Like all the hidden moments
of our dreams,
every experience
becomes nothingness and memory,
but something persistent
underneath our life
somehow touches every moment,
while time just slips away.
