It was a miracle: we struck on love
when sorrow sang a storm to split our skin.
We weathered well as blows fell from above
extinguishing the fire we tend within;
we ate our ashes. Aching ever on,
our fingers intertwine within the dust;
a passion born of trauma, whereupon
our bodies fell–and some might call it lust
so born of desperation, but we need
in deepest sorrow more than glory’s day.
A lover armed with sutures when we bleed
will stick around, will help you find your way:
or so we pray. I twine myself with you
to shield against the melancholic blue.
