In the mornings' absence
new spirits amass in millions
float with embers to the shores
gape larger within the black gaps
and I am writing the world burning
the ashy life in our noses and eyes
what was the kangaroos' scrutiny
leafy rich reservoirs, regretfully yours
the crimes of ecocide on conquered land
and my spirit mourning life’s absence.
