Out of the Shadows

Life’s burdens press down.
Fatigue takes over.
Depression sets in.
I take to the shadows.
My bed becomes comfort.
The TV: my best friend.
Long hours of mind-numbing nothingness,
Head on pillow,
Eyes staring straight ahead.
No words from this “poet.”
Nouns and verbs won’t agree.
Adverbs and adjectives confuse.
Words stay out of mind’s grasp.
