Plummeting Skies

Some days to just pull through

It is the eyes that see the dark
not the mind that got lost
as if that’s any consolation
to the disconnected limbs
of the numb torso,
mostly dumb but sometimes
excelling at some things

Humongous losses were incurred
the time when the sky was falling
because they got the happy hour
mixed up with the funeral procession
for buried virtues
and the apology that was due
didn’t make it to the print
the point of which gets lost
anyhow in transit despite
the heavy translation costs

Only then do you realize
the soreness did not spring
from the to-do list
that’s weighing you down

And all you have to turn to
is the scattered image
of something like you
in the mirror that does
a bad job at reflecting

But you can’t complain much
when the only light you see
is that of the moon,
because the stars got shadowed
or outnumbered, maybe ghosted even
