Pretty Distractions

Longing for a new landscape within and without

I desire a simple life, yet
I have a rather complicated one.
All the stuff I have
requires more stuff
and that stuff
needs to be acquired, maintained, and contained,
used, cared for, and put away again,
creating a need
for endless decisions to be made.
And so I find
my mind in pieces,
my spirit worn thin.
The complex life distracts
and destroys the soul
and
the dreams of the soul.

When will I walk
the walk
instead of talking
the talk?

Come, Fresh Wind,
sweep through this cluttered mind.
Reshape this landscape
with my efforts
and your grace.

Sunlight filters in from the right hand side of image into a mature and dense forest.
A girl wearing a blue dress with braided hair walks among trees in an orchard, yellow dandelions bloom in the grass.
