Can’t take it back
not mine, never owned
ravenous glare of the
midnight crow.

Time is of the essence
until it isn’t
her sweet breasts glistened
until they didn’t.

Beauty in our sex
sex in our love
I inhabit her beauty
until ugliness erupts.

Fear not the dragon
but do fear the slayer
feed it — feel it — come on boy, you got it now — bury it deep
sow those seeds, hear the floorboards creak.

No going forward
no stepping back
burnt ash
fireplace rack.

Forever linked
midnight crow and I
time is of the essence
until we die.
