In Celebration of Scrittura’s Writers: August
Somehow, we made it through August. It was twisty and hot, surprising and mind-boggling. August has a bad reputation in my family. We try to enjoy it the best we can, but it has always been (superstitiously) a dreaded month. It’s hard to escape a season of losses. I hope everyone else sees August in a different light.
I spent most of August preparing to teach 7th and 8th graders all about our world. I didn’t do much writing unless you count creating a social studies curriculum as writing. OK — it counts. But I didn’t write any poetry. I am glad there was plenty of poetry to read here!
