Reverberating Rhymes
Tribute to Zach J. Payne
To the word written, we owe our conscience clear
Sheathing the best of sage, nous, ‘n the soul freed
Battle of the quills, tense — in scribe held so dear
Through time, shall reign the best of the joint breed
Mustered spirit summoning tales tall
Wading past the daily hurdles many
An ascent uphill — woven light in scrawl
Our stories untold, hung by thread any
Reverberating through motion of time
Fusion of art forms in many a verse
Ballads to lull in appeasing chime
Bells to toll, when your lines fine, disperse
Lest our hearts forget the song pledged in rhyme
Rest, my friend, as words penned echo thru time

the lonely fight
that broke her narrow road, the certain way
her stage was set. Our stories don’t resolve
as easily as writers would believe.
