Scrittura
Obligation
Dear Scrittura:
For long have I been writing as a deranged wraith.
For long have I toiled to embalm my carcass.
For long have I persevered toward genuine expression.
Literature is my solace from the existential pandemonium that renders the normality of my life pathological.
The Styx is my room, and its silt, my escritoire.
Verily, I am cynical; such is my writing.
My manuscripts are my crimes; their finality are my punishments: to this truth have I resigned.
Mesmerizing imagery, didactic poetry, and symbolic allegory: divergence; I have experienced the inexplicable through you.
Obliged am I to everyone at Scrittura: I am in the company of much that I cherish, let alone God.
Thank you, J.D. Harms, Viraji Ogodapola, Jessica Lee McMillan, and Josie Elbiry.
