frozen, like all memory
our faces after the glass shatters
would it even be that audible
from the depths of grandma’s nap
would she even notice our silenced
laughter under the buzz of cicadas
the drone of the lawn mower
two doors down
who to blame for punishment
Scotch tape a likely fix
for sisters’ games gone wrong
the screendoor screetches
she’s at the threshold
we brace…
