Sun in a Sorbet
Sun about to suffuse
snuffed in a flash by
shrapnel of snow dust,
smudged in disarray,
dawn inked with dew
a dimmed glassy day,
sunbeam tumbled
over shivering greens
unfocused; faint,
to reticulate the glare
noon strung the scant,
weaving weft across
tensile warp ruptured,
witchy whoosh of wind
dissipated the darn,
a mist marauding
roily residue of yarn,
effulgence eschew,
a cold wave peeve,
edgy flakes of light
ebbing in frosty sieve,
threadbare sheen
in an ephemeral blink
spooled to sunset,
waning day hastily
crept in a dark sleeve.
This piece is written in response to the prompt ‘desire and gravity’ by J.D. Harms. The day trying to escape yet staying in a heterogeneous identity, coexists with bullying cold completing the universal cycle assigned to it. Pictures show Sun smothered by snow struggling to rise, sunlight trying to dominate the sky and the sun setting in twilight.
