The Burning Match To The Cigarette Lighter

Fragments of light,
Scattered on the floor.
Mirror ball twirling,
Knock at the door.

Who can it be?
It’s getting kinda late.
Lonesome, weary traveler,
Or simple twist of fate?

All that is needed,
Is all that is found.
World of plenty,
Sights, smells and sounds.

“Keep on spinning,
You tireless prize fighter!”
Says, the Burning Match,
To the Cigarette Lighter.

Admiration, respect,
Eye of the beholder.
Rules of engagement,
Soul of the soldier.

“So tether yourself,
To that setting sun.
Next one rises,
Like a starter’s gun.

Open those eyes,
And steady your gaze.
Swim in that glimmering light,
For these are better days.”
