What do human bodies and air conditioners have in common?

The
human body,
more like an
introductory
paragraph in
a paper on
philosophy
than a novel,
you don’t want
it to be a
mystery
or horror

story.
Like air conditioners
and NFL linemen,
you don’t notice
when it does its job,
when it doesn’t, you
won’t notice anything
except the

body.
The body’s mind
has a mind of its own.
The mind’s body is
confined to its home,
house arrest,

lonely.
The mind minds
mines the body
leaves behind to

explode.
The body’s
body of

work
embodies the
wear and

tear
of climate change
on this body of

earth.
