Traversed the path, smelt the scents
Breathed the air, once fresh but now stale
Dwelt the moment, lulled the senses
Mused the sight, heaved the emotions
déjà vu, been there, done that
Hailing heroes denoted by time ‘n place
‘n not by actions righteous ‘n of resilience
Mere words and articulations pompous
Lacking greatly in that manner of
Vortex of the very Perspective Total*1
Fables of fiction to few
Some to follow then to fathom
Mirroring fractions of one another
Recurring in cycles of Kekulé nature
Just the bipeds in the cosmic zoo of scales
Cherished ‘n crushed, won and lost, loved ‘n hurt
Predilections favoured by the heart
Devoured by the mind running amok
Singing chimes of Auld Lang Syne*2
In reminiscence of the times long past
Forsaken hearts from desolate lands
Souls bleeding, sighs stifled
Devoid of spirit, all life sucked out
Mindless bodies scuttling about
In the direction of any which way
Bullets that tear the flesh, bare the bones
But pierce the soul, stripping naked the horns
That once blew the tune of something you forget
Every fall that calls for a lift-up much heavier
For ’tis just a minor fall, yet a major lift*3
Flimsy film of thinning conscience
Marred by vague senses of right ‘n wrong
Silvery greyed roots of thinning hair
Giving up such naiveness that once was
Strung intricately into the labyrinth of time
For Such is Life, the painted taint picturesque
Abhor not, for ’tis here to dwell in, indulge ‘n to drown
Oh what craze, what raving menace
Stop right here, right now, justly so
Then come morrow, ‘n repeat shall we?!
