A love over time
is fleeting and tenuous,
in grasp of rhyme.
It slithers in dark sinuous
corners of a mind
twisted by the red envious
embers of a flame
crying out for the dance
one last time.
To cavort, wheel, and prance;
racing along the dried wood
of lust. The flickering entrance
for those who should
dare to gaze upon
the embers hallowed brood.
The dark temptation
of agony and ecstasy
entwined in cries of contention.
The sweetest malady
holding the heart closest.
The beat fading quickly
amidst a smoldering casket.
