I leave for the seashore
enjoying morning stroll
humdrum of the rising day,
the waves suddenly recede
a short-lived serendipity
engulfs, the moving souls
advance and bow down
to pick the fishes, shells
and much more bounty
waves hide, left behind by
withdrawing ocean aplenty,
unaware of the danger
looming large over lives,
soon the tides rush back
with monstrous velocity
appalling thunder explosion
thronging shocked shoreline
uprooted trees, crushed boats
and the town much ahead
devastated thoroughly;
be it objects or creatures
in a blink of mind’s vision,
the power of turbulent water
washing away wisdom and
meticulously amassed
rags and riches alike
encroaching the limitations
to scratch time’s brilliance
with its menacing paws,
pressure of vicious air
an ally in the conspiracy
for ghastly inundation,
devilish witch of water
merely altered its curvature,
stifled the hapless land
scrambled blood and bones,
mutilated and blew away
intelligence and creation
with a glare of contempt
belying human self-adulation.
