Voodoo Me

I dare you

Photo by Clem Onojeghuo on Unsplash

I am the Ice Queen
immune to the pins and pricks
of your whimsical touch
Voodoo me with your torch
I’ll try not to melt
woo me with your lilac lips
sangria to my heart
I’ll drink
but not swallow your sweet elixir
a panacea
an antidote to my discord
your magic may
impale others
scattering acid rains
guised as the first snow of winter
but I am colder than ice
an avalanche
daughter of Black Jack
my skin swathed in frost
my soul…

I pen poetry about love and loss, what I observe and experience — I write about hope. My writing has been described as resiliently defiant.
