Here in North Carolina, the azaleas are in full bloom. Pops of colorful bushes are everywhere, and cacophonous bird songs and scents of new life awaken me. Wherever you write and read, I hope the season is abundant with possibility!

Thank you for being such a warm community of literary-minded humans. We value your feedback. Scrittura is the publication it is today because of our writers' genuine and creative words and the consistent readership of our subscribers.

“Wonderful Words” is a selection of our twelve favorite pieces from the previous month. We value human connection, attention to detail, and quality writing. Our favorites are subjective, of course. The editors (Viraji, Zay, Ann, and Samantha) hope you will enjoy the variety showcased here.

Viraji’s Picks:

It Is What It Is by BJ Dawson

Photosynthesis?
I learned of it from science texts,
but I will never truly know how trees
transmute sunlight into sugars,
expelling oxygen as waste.
