Kicked Out of a Taxi… Twice.

Hey guys, welcome to the city of Hong Kong. We will be your tour guides today (just kidding, hence the title).

To begin this blog post, let’s set the tone.

We arrived in Hong Kong as a layover to Kolkata at 6 AM. We didn’t plan our 16 hour day trip, but alas Alyssa and I are both back at the airport writing this blog.

We took a train into the city and tried to take the easy way out by exploring the surrounding area without doing any research. We didn’t realize how big Hong Kong was until we actually had access to wifi at the Pacific Coffee Shop. Once we made our game plan, we decided to make moves.

Both of us as rookies calling taxis, we were able to call one after many failed attempts. We both got into a taxi (twice), where both instances we were immediately kicked out because the drivers either 1. didn’t understand us or 2. didn’t want to take us to our destination.

Eventually we found the nicest man who explained that taxis had designated island spots and drove us to the next connecting taxi, making sure that we got to where we needed to be. He was a miracle sent to us!

Besides the mysterious liquids dripping from above, watching a bird struggle to swallow a giant fish whole, saving a blind man from being railed by a cart, the rest of the trip was a success.

To sum up our adventure today, here are some highlights:

Wong Tai Sin Temple
Outside the temple
Dim Sum, yum!
Temple Street Night Market
Mammy Pancake- treat yo self.

Crazy to think we haven’t even arrived to our destination yet, what a great start to our trip! Can’t wait to meet everyone at Destiny tomorrow.

Peace out,

Alyssa & Andrea

P.S. Not sure if these blogs are a competition, but we’re here to win.
