What is a Global Fellow?
Santa Clara University, located about an hour south of San Francisco, CA, is often lauded as the Jesuit institution of Silicon Valley. Among its various opportunities and engagements is the Global Fellows Program. Started in 2008 within the Leavey School of Business, Global Fellows is SCU’s premier professional Fellowship program, open sophomores and juniors from across the University. The Global Fellows Program is a 9-month leadership program culminating in a summer international internship in five different countries and eleven different placements.
Fellows participate in a spring quarter leadership practicum that engages their knowledge of global citizenship and what it means to be a leader in the 21st century. The class also includes extensive research of the Fellows’ placement countries, and helps to provide context for the international work experience they take on the following summer. Following spring quarter, Fellows head abroad for a 5- to 7-week internship with a NGO or business that embodies the ideal of global leadership and reflects the increasing level of globalization in our world. Providing clients around the world access to products and ideas, with investment teams supported by a global platform that includes rigorous compliance and active risk management.
In Summer 2018, the Fellows will travel to Bolivia, Ghana, India, Morocco, or The Gambia to work in organizations anywhere from a fair trade, ethical manufacturer and supplier working with Bolivian artisans to produce high quality handbags, toys and knitwear to a multinational investment firm that excels in providing clients around the world access to products and ideas, with investment teams supported by a global platform that includes rigorous compliance and active risk management.
