You don’t know my name
You don’t know my face
I stand to gain nothing from this
exchange

And yet, still I write these thoughts
these rhymes. record
these moments in time
where You and I collide

show you my flare
my deep dark scares
my ecstasy
my wears and tears
in a crinkled book wrinkled in writer’s despair and yet
still ready to greet this chilled morning air
