pollen makes my eyes so itchy
crying makes the whites
red and dry
sometimes broken glasses
can be fixed
but stepped-on hearts
take longer
to regain their shape…
stack of books borrowed
from the campus library
memorial day weekend
so the place is dead
the complete stories
of JG Ballard
hopefully something here
will jumpstart my mind again…
a little premium coffee
after sleeping in
lights neurons up
enough to capture my inner flow
a little taste of my usual groove
makes me think I can find my zone
where time itself begins to slow
that’s where I like to be
if I can ever get there
revving up Aoede’s song
…maybe soon…
I’ll be rounding Jupiter too
if I keep this rhythm going
and follow it long enough
to steady my unlucky hand
and show you I am the one,
that this atrocity exhibition
won’t go on forever—
someday I’ll find my place
— in these myriad stars
you’ll see me shine
so, until then
let’s hold on to hope
and hang on to the love
that makes us whole
