Disgraced

A Poem

Photo by Jr Korpa on Unsplash

No, don’t do that
to yourself
tearing down one
world
before building another
in someone else’s
image
Shot through with
all the desire
you can handle
and your body
left you on the curb
watching
the car drive off
or the sting
of a life-slap that spreads
you like butter
over your couch
Like forgetting to put
real pants on
and using the fake dress
to present yourself
to the people
instead
and I know
you think you’re
coming to the
end…
