Displacement

cavernous love

a jagged reality

for a broken land

Snow falls silently wet

mesmerizing a gaze

of indifference

Christmas is divergent

absent pine trees

no cars gripping

sliding down the street

out of control on ice

we will celebrate freedom

split mystery meat

rolling on the BBQ

kids splashing in the surf

Palm trees standing guard

tomato sauce on tap

jellyfish blue water

gratitude growing lahars

as fairy lights twinkle

on meadow mountain

awaiting our return

to the eruption of normalcy

that never came
