Renegade Oddities, №4

From a mild dose
of neurosis
he makes antidotes
for foolishness.

From the scales
that blind a fool
he forges backbones
for the spineless.

But all he had were giggles
for those
who begged him
for
the cure
to mediocrity.

They asked:
“are you not a healer?”

“Indeed I am;
there is no cure for mediocrity.”

“Are you a mediocre healer?”

“Would it matter if I was?
There’s no cure for mediocrity.”

What they failed to understand
was the nature of disease:

No difference exists
between
what kills
and
what cures;

disease is the excess
or
the lack of it
.

Mediocrity:

dreamers who dwell in it
become fools
if unaware,
or
bitter cowards
if they linger
and they know it.
