it’s astonishing
how long it takes
to experiment
on what it means
to have a good life
the ambiguous
and fractious nature
of strangers…
the eating of cocoa pebbles
with different colored milks…
wearing positive shorts
and negative shirts
neutral socks
and so on…
the machinery is unfair
and my disposition
is unassuming
the part that makes sense
starts right about here
just not having your life
in your own control
is a form of torture
not having any say
in what you do
or being forced
to do things
you don’t wanna do,
is something that degrades
you, erodes away your spirit
the problem is, there’s too much
of this being alone
in unfamiliar places,
surrounded by random people
who may or may not
be looking at you,
scrutinizing you,
but very much not giving a fuck
about you, about who you are
and where you come from
and it’s usually up to you
to get from point A to point B
in a limited amount of time,
you see, that is the terror,
or the promise of it dwindling,
a terror contrived by systems
and enforced by entities who do not love you
who’d rather see you in a ditch, probably,
than be sharing this planet with you
because when it comes right down to it
we all know there isn’t enough space for everyone
and soon there won’t be enough stuff either,
and because we all collectively have not made
the right choices, we all know this rock
is gonna eventually turn into a crumbling cookie
so, like…
