If Only We Were Honest

If only we were honest with one another,
perhaps we wouldn’t feel so alone.
While we are all unique,
some things are universal.

The heaviness of feeling lonely,
the tickling excitement when we fall in love,
the restlessness that keeps us up at night,
the wonderings of why we’re even here.

Even knowing this,
I am often torn
between honesty and the fear
that others
will think I am too much.
