The inhalation
of your destruction
blew me to pieces
in the best way

How was I to know
that I needed to die
to be reborn
to something new

This new me
is a different beast
than the beaten
down girl I was

Resilience is born
of suffering and fire
polished into
this strong diamond

I now walk
head held high
eyes wide open
meeting your gaze

When I inhale in
breath of life
spine is straight
from pure embodiment

Long gone are
the days of
forced upon thoughts
of unworthiness

As your contrast
became the unknown
gift of my becoming
into this phoenix flame

As I inhale
exhalation breathes
out the power
of my words
