saturday was orange
optimistically
is overwhelmed in colour
an intoxicated saturation
scented air
enough so
to be choked on
mandarin
or tangerine
and breathing marmalade
a sweet and sticky condensation
on a citrus sky
through tinted window glazing
patient
waxed like clementines
all smooth and stretched like rubber
till it’s burst
torn open
shards of concentrated colour
leaked and
bleeding amber
on to sleep.
