Thirst
Cos everything’s
Gone numb
Nerve endings
Rubbed raw
Emotions eject
The person
I am
Parachuting over
Mt. Oblivion
Pulsations poising
For impact
A traceless fall
Dopamine
Pumping through
My brain
Give me more
Give me more
Pleasure than pain

(Pause. Breathe here)

The very muscles that propelled to victory
have seized upon me a grief of inability

(Pause. Breathe here)

Let the salty warmth flow down these cheeks
Compassion rise up in the form of space
You are love
You are openness
You are here instead
May you settle into peace my friend
While savoring that sugar n’ sunshine
To make me feel alive again
