When my words were sliced and diced
and torn to shreds
macheteed and confettied
I took it all in stride
like the day follows the night
like fear takes flight
like there’s a fine line between wrong and right
in a scary, starry, blurry world
where I was raised by pokey men
and freddy kruegers
life’s not really all that vulgar
sometimes it feels bi-polar
the summer’s here
have no fear
see a film at tribeca
live your life fuller
don’t forget to take cover
and take the time to enjoy
the light, the darkness,
the noise, the silence
and the words will follow.
