something more than emptiness

Photo by Paul Rottmann on Unsplash

two empty patio chairs
no longer ever used
surrounded by dried out plants
side by side, arms touching
enjoying what’s left of the view
two dirty patio chairs
on a misty April morning
beacons of dead and tragic space
objects unwanted and disused
neglected by a once faithful pair
both tired and abused
what will happen to these patio chairs
well, someday, they’ll be moved
by whom, unclear
but they’ll rot somewhere
in a dumpster or a heap…
