  1. The Sustainable Development Goals Interface Ontology is a system created to define and clarify specific terms and their interrelations in the domain of the sustainable development goals, targets, and indicators. An ontology clarifies the meanings of terms used by researchers who need to share information within or between disciplines.
  2. The original mandate for the SDGIO was created in 2015, and gives background information at the early stages of the SDGIO.

2. The SDGIO is still in draft form. An update was released during the fourth meeting of the Inter-Agency and Expert Group on the Sustainable Development Goal Indicators that took place in November 2016.

4. The SDGIO can be viewed in its current form here. It provides great information about the code, background, and current work plan for the ever evolving ontology of the SDGs. The SDGIO is important to the monitoring of the SDGs for its ability to clarify and equalize terms across the SDG indicators. Measuring ‘access’ in one indicator may be different from another indicator. The SDGIO helps ensure better data that is more consistent across countries and languages.

5. The United National Environment Programme (UNEP) SDG Portal is a great hub of SDG information, and includes language information that is visually organized. The site is constantly updating, and uses feedback from user experience to improve.
