Earlier this month, the Inter-Agency and Expert Group on Sustainable Development Goal Indicators met in Mexico City, Mexico, to further craft the indicator framework for the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda.

NGOsbeyond2014.org, a resource for stakeholders interested in specific areas of the MDGs and SDGs, has written a series of articles revolving around this recent meeting. The four articles deal with individual presentations and quotes from various days of the meeting, and are a good resource for understanding the conversations that took place over the indicators in Mexico City.

Before the meeting — Includes meeting objectives, and discusses Tier III indicators related to NGOsbeyond2014.org subjects.

Days 1 & 2 — Opening remarks, and stakeholder presentations on goals 3, 4, and 5.

Day 3 — Description of the last Agenda items discussed on the 3rd day of deliberation, ranging from metadata compilation, to establishment of baselines for tracking global trends, to the ‘next steps’ work plan moving forward.

Day 3 — Metadata — statement delivered on behalf of civil society by ARROW on metadata, by Sai Jyothirmai Racherla, Asian-Pacific Resource & Research Centre for Women.

Another resource for IAEG-SDGs meeting information, is the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs. This entity, which includes the Statistical Commission and the IAEG-SDGs, posted its own follow up article from the Mexico City meeting. A shorter read, the article mostly outlines the general history of the IAEG-SDGs and the opening remarks of their 3rd meeting.
