This week in #SDGs counting- October 12th, 2017
Our roundup of what we’ve found and what we’ve been reading this week.
1. This week, Martine Durand, Chief Statistician at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and Director of the OECD Statistics Directorate, lays out the OECD’s relationship to SDGs indicators, reminds us of the study on Measuring Distance to the SDG Targets, and challenges us all to not leave the burden of evidence for sustainable development solely on statisticians. This article will be featured in the OECD’s Development Co-operation Report 2017: Data for Development, to be released next week.
2. Late summer through early fall was a busy time for sustainable development data- the High Level Political Forum in July, Global Goals Week in September, and the next meeting of the Inter-Agency and Expert Group on SDG indicators coming up in November. Open Data Watch has compiled resources from these busy months, gathering a comprehensive list of reports, articles, and blogs on the topic of the data revolution. See what’s being said.
3. The IISD SDGs Knowledge Hub also has a roundup from the last few weeks of reporting and events. They’ve published a summary of recent reports and conversations on National Statistical capacity building. Reports referenced:
