1.The 2017 International Conference on Sustainable Development Goals Statistics (ICSDGS) was held this week in Manila, Philippines, from October 4th to the 6th. A major talking point: the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics may need to be modernized. The last edition was updated in 2014.

2. During the 2017 International Conference on Sustainable Development Goals Statistics, the Partnership in Statistics for Development in the 21st Century (Paris21) unveiled the 2017 Partner Report on Support to Statistics (PRESS), which gathers and analyzes global financial support for data and statistics. This year’s findings: “Data and statistics are attracting more resources and new donors, but support remains insufficient”.

3. Today, StartingUpGood published a summary of the two latest reports from the UN Global Compact, both launched during last month’s Global Goals Week. The 2017 UN Global Compact Progress Report: Business Solutions to Sustainable Development focuses on the current progress made by members of the Global Compact, especially small- and medium-sized businesses. Business Reporting on the SDGs: An Analysis of the Goals and Targets specifically looks at how business can report on each target of the SDGs, by organizing a comprehensive review of relevant UN conventions, international agreements, and other resources to determine a list of possible disclosures for each of the 169 SDG targets.
