1.This week the World Bank released the 2017 SDG Atlas, visualizing data from the World Development Indicators and matching them to the Global Goals. The Atlas is prime for exploration- WDI databases are available for download, with interactive dashboards for each SDG.

2. The next #SDTalks Webinar has been announced: Partnership for Sustainable Development Data, with Dr. Claire Melamed, Executive Director of Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data. Last month, the United Nations System Staff College hosted a webinar focused on Big Data for the SDGs, and recordings are available. We are looking forward to tuning in for this free event, which starts at 8:00am EST on Friday, April 28th.

3. Earlier in April, Ghana held a National Data Roadmap Forum, marking the beginning of Ghana’s data roadmap process for tracking the implementation of the SDGs. This is a step toward successful national SDG monitoring, following the Roadmap framework supported by the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data, designed to guide countries through the process of monitoring the SDGs.

4. In an interview from March 2017, Stefan Schweinfest, Director of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs Statistics Division, and Davinder Sandhu, KPMG in India, discuss the intersections of data, sustainable development and decision-making. KPMG is an international network of member firms providing audits, tax, and advisory services. The interview touches on topics ranging from how to define statistical capacity, the careful balance of data disaggregation, and the need for investment in data to achieve the SDGs.
