1. The Vatican Global Forum, presented by Fortune and Time. Held in Rome late last week, Fortune 500 and Time 100 leaders engaged with Pope Francis over two days to present a “new social compact for the 21st Century”. Through lectures and working groups with CEOs, NGO and non-profit leadership, and members of the Church, the Forum presented a final document of solutions. Many of these overlapped with conversations about the Global Goals and the need for data to drive policy and outcomes.

2. UN Global Pulse Report- Big Data for Development and Humanitarian Action: Towards Responsible Governance. The Global Pulse-created Data Privacy Advisory Group has published its reported filled with recommendations regarding the use of big data in development and humanitarian contexts. Big data, which includes the constant stream of information from devices and smart phones, can be harnessed for use in measuring the SDGs and other sustainable initiatives, if used correctly. Fair data use, privacy, and data security all make appearances in this important report.

3. The Global Impact Investing Network Impact Investor Forum 2016. The GIIN hosted its annual Investor Forum this week, focusing on all things impact investing- covering subjects ranging from returns to markets to monitoring. The relevance of Impact Data and indicators for successful monitoring were all part of the conversation. Following #GIF16 is a great way to catch up on speakers and outcome documents. While it may not be directly related to data for the SDGs, data from business partnerships and the private sector are necessary for tracking the Global Goals.
