SDG Counting

This week in the #SDGs- February 3, 2017

Our roundup of what we’ve found and what we’ve been reading this week.

1.Open Data Watch published ‘What’s Being Said, a comprehensive and growing collection of reports and articles spanning open data, sustainability data, national statistics offices, and more from the last quarter of 2016.

2. Feedspot, a blog compiler, launched their list of ‘Top 50 Statistics Blogs and Website on the Web. These rankings are based on Google Search results, social media posts, and other algorithms. A good place to start to increase Data Literacy and Education.

3. Aditya Agrawal of the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data posted a detailed recap of the Data Visualization panel from the UN World Data Forum. For anyone who missed the session from earlier in January, this is a great reminder of the innovations and importance of data visualization.

4. The Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data launched a Beta version of the Data4SDGs API Highways, an ‘Application Program Interface’ that gives developers access to data sets across sectors and encourages them to create applications and visualizations with the tools provided.

5. Two great reads regarding Business and counting for the SDGs- from Eco-Business, an interesting piece on the finer details of a business seeking to monitor contributions to the SDGs; and from SustainAbility and GRI, ‘Future Trends in Sustainability Reporting’, insights from the GRI Corporate Leadership Group on Reporting 2025.
