1.Leading up to the fifth meeting of the Inter-Agency and Expert Group for the Sustainable Development Goal Indicators, we’ve been catching up on all things IAEG including the outcomes of the 48th session of the UN Statistical Commission and the High Level Forum on Official Statistics. We’ve been looking to the IISD SDG Knowledge Hub, with a great update on the current state of the indicator framework. Next week, we’ll take a deeper dive into the themes and agenda of the fifth meeting of the IAEG-SDGs. The meeting begins on Tuesday, March 28th.

2. AidData’s latest report, “Avoiding Data Graveyards: Insights from Data Producers & Users in Three Countries” looks at interviews from Senegal, Honduras, and Timor-Leste to get to the heart of the producer/user relationship in development data. An insightful read, focused on the logic of getting from data to impact as the interaction of four C’s: content (is development data fit-for-purpose?), channel (can prospective users easily find, access, and use the information they need?), choice (will the perceived benefits of using data outweigh the costs?), and consequence (improved development outcomes).

3. The World Bank’s Land and Poverty Conference 2017 this week focused closely on data and indicators relating to the SDGs. Land Portal reminded us of the Land Book resource for data on land governance from diverse sources around the world.

4. Data2x launched their newest report “Big Data and the Well-Being of Women and Girls” alongside a twitter chat (#BigData4gender) and data conversations surrounding the 61st Commission on the Status of Women at the UN. If you’re looking for even more ‘big data’ insights and conversations, Data Pop Alliance recently launched a new webinar series on Data for Development, with ‘big data’ scheduled as the first subject, taking place March 30th.
