Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all

The Targets

7.1

By 2030, ensure universal access to affordable, reliable and modern energy services

7.2

By 2030, increase substantially the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix

7.3

By 2030, double the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency

7.a

By 2030, enhance international cooperation to facilitate access to clean energy research and technology, including renewable energy, energy efficiency and advanced and cleaner fossil-fuel technology, and promote investment in energy infrastructure and clean energy technology

7.b

By 2030, expand infrastructure and upgrade technology for supplying modern and sustainable energy services for all in developing countries, in particular least developed countries, small island developing States, and land-locked developing countries, in accordance with their respective programs of support

  • UN sponsored network of shareholders dedicated to sustainable energy and the pathway to universal access.

  • The UNDP is dedicated to economic and environmental issues related to the SDGs, including Goal 7.

7. The United Nations Industrial Development Organization

  • UNIDO focuses on developing the sustainable industries of struggling economies. This arm of the UN will directly relate to Goal 7.

8. Energia- International Network on Gender and Sustainable Energy

  • International agency dedicated to strengthening women-led energy enterprises and advocating for gender mainstreaming in energy policy. Is committed to the UN SE4All goals.

9. The World Bank

  • Organization dedicated to ending world poverty. Overlaps with data collection for many of the SDGs, including Goal 7.

10. International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis

  • IIASA is an international scientific agency and conducts policy-oriented research into problems of a global nature. They conduct research and collect data on multiple systems that affect the environment, including energy use.

11. The International Renewable Energy Agency

  • IRENA is an intergovernmental organization that supports countries in their transition to a sustainable energy future.

12. The International Partnership for Energy Efficiency Cooperation

  • Non-UN agency dedicated to the deployment of clean energy technologies worldwide.

13. The United Nations Energy Knowledge Network
