Introducing: the Sean McDevitt | Writer Newsletter & The Weekly Click Digest

Cool newsletter, bro.

As you may have noticed (or not, I can’t really tell), I didn’t write anything new last week. Instead, I worked on creating two new avenues for my creativity. The first is a new newsletter and the second is an old newsletter name in a new format. Stay with me.

Back in the day, I had a newsletter called The Weekly Click. It was a digest of stories that I felt were interesting and worthy of sharing. I enjoyed doing it. I got up to 500 or so subscribers, but never more than 25 or so opens which was kinda weird. I started it on Revue, this new and fresh, up and coming newsletter outfit. It certainly made things fun. I expanded it to comment on the news of the day, and I offered a lot of links. It also took up a lot of time. Mostly time away from writing regularly. The Weekly Click was fun, but I felt like there were far too many people doing the same thing I was, and some were doing it better. So, I stopped.

At the beginning of the year, I moved The Weekly Click to Medium and just started adding about ten stories a week as a weekly post. Way less work. All of the fun. Then I made the mistake of deleting the publication on Medium without downloading it. So, I lost weeks of posts. I had most of the details, which made it easier to reconstitute but it will take some time.

In the meantime, I’ve started up again doing new The Weekly Click posts every Saturday. It’s been fun, and I enjoy gathering up the stories. Once it goes live, I’ll add it to my blog so you can easily find it there too.

The other thing I’ve been working on is a companion newsletter for Sean McDevitt | Writer. I’m using Revue again since it made the most sense after testing MailChimp and Tiny Letter. It’s designed to be a collection of my latest essays and stories on a weekly basis. The goal is to, hopefully, generate more people taking a look at my stuff on Medium and hopefully enjoying what I’m writing. I might even pull a few from ye olde archive if it seems relevant.

This too will be posted on the blog for ease of collecting and coordination.

I hope you take a look and see what I’ve cooked up. Subscribe to the newsletter and never miss one of my stories. Check out the digest and never miss a story you should be reading.
