Lluis Benet — Workplace Manager at SEAT CODE

Lluis Benet is the actual Workplace Manager at Seat Code. He has been at SEAT CODE since 2019, two years after the company’s foundation. He pursued a vocational Degree in Electronics, Telecommunication Systems, and IT in Tarragona (Spain).

His adventurous spirit has led him to leave his hometown (Reus, Tarragona) at the age of 21 and move to another country: Denmark. There he studied as an International IT supporter in Viborg (a small town in Denmark).

His experience abroad in educational field, enabled him to evolve from a technician role to become a flexible Team Lead.

“The first year was really hard; Danish people from small towns are used to their own circles, and it’s hard to enter; making Danish friends is difficult, but once they get to know you, they are “Hygge” and lovely”.

Lluis describes his experience as a journey of personal growth and knowledge acquisition. He must learn a new language and new ways of socializing. Most of the things he does right now in his work are the result of his management and his experience abroad. There are some technological processes that are still arriving here in Spain, but in Denmark, they existed years ago.

After his 3 years abroad, he decided to return and start working at the automotive sector. His aptitude for coordination soon saw him overseeing entire help desk teams. This propensity for leadership became a recurring theme throughout his professional journey. After multiple experiences, he arrived in 2019 at Metropolis Lab, the company was at a very starting-point, and there was nothing sure at all. It was in the same year (2019) that changed his name to Seat Code. Even so, he decided to bet for the company, he didn’t have much to lose.

“I started from zero, putting stickers in the laptops to make the stocktaking and have control of all the computers from the company and managing the licences. There was a point when I couldn’t cover it all by myself, so another person from IT came.”

When we asked Lluis how he would describe himself he does putting the words meticulous but also open-minded in the description. The first one is because when it comes to processes from a multinational corporation, it is required to be careful with the actions as they impact the company. Regarding the second attribute, it fits perfectly with the company as it is the first one from all the Volkswagen Group that implement stack technology on Macbooks in their workspaces. To do that you need to be open.

“The power of Code lies in the eagerness to conquer the world, that’s what makes a company different.”

Having people like Lluis on their team is an important part for a company to grow. They started with 23 but now they’re near to 300 coders. Lluis’ passion for driving was a key factor in his accepting the challenge and contributing to the company’s growth.

But what does Lluis think about Seat Code? He said some words of what Seat Code represents for him:

“Seat Code represents a lot of things, a team that has faith in their people. At the beginning, I started with a promise, but they believed in me and gave me the power to grow. I always say that if you want to achieve a realistic goal, they will help you get there. “
