We have heard a great deal about “R”s in technology lately, be it VR (Virtual Reality), AR (Augmented Reality), MR (Mixed Reality) or XR (Extended Reality). In the midst of confusion about which means what exactly, the common derivative is that shifting to immersive technologies has been one of the most incisive shifts we have seen recently. Although hampered by lacking adaptation for now, it has the potential to fundamentally change the way we work, play and even “live”.

In business, companies have just started to catch up with this realisation: A recent survey report outlines where companies are perceiving growth and investment opportunities, which industries are at the helm of adoption as well as the what challenges towards mass adoption are:

  • 83% (VR) and 69% (AR) of current enterprise VR & AR end-users report a positive impact on their business, with 86% claiming they’ll be investing more in immersive technology
  • 67% of enterprise VR solution providers and 70% AR providers report stable and strong growth
  • Education is showing the most growth — in demand as well as in supply of immersive services, with gaming, healthcare, media, travel & tourism, manufacturing, automotive and retail also showing high potential
  • Price and lack of content are still the major barriers to consumer adoption — however, perceived less of a concern than in 2017

What many eye suspiciously, is the daily bread of Second Earth: We are researching, developing, innovating and collaborating to bring VR to the forefront of the public eye. Our project is centred on creating a multi-purpose virtual platform which integrates the “real” and the “virtual” by combining virtual reality and blockchain technology. At the vanguard of our services, we are working on COMN, a meeting space/ conference system in the VR space that builds the foundation of the platform.

With growth seen in VR for enterprise, enterprise applications receive high priority for investment and spending — and this is where COMN is set to become a major player.

What is COMN?

Second Earth’s COMN is a service which allows for the creation of multi-functional and highly customizable spaces, or “rooms”, for a variety of use cases. Users are free to take advantage of one of our pre-made office spaces for quick access, or create and customize their own ideal collaboration space. COMN can be used for all manner of internal and external business meetings, as a collaboration space for creators and freelancers, as a place to network and meet potential clients or employers, and so much more.

As the name “COMN” already hints, the goal is to provide a “common” or “shared” room, a “community” space to gather and share ideas, supported by features such as digital whiteboards, data sharing and voice command.

COMN has entered a crucial stage in development, as we are fine tuning the functions and features. We are looking forward to sharing more information with you soon! Stay tuned for more updates and don’t forget to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!
