Audiobook (2014): The Science of Mindfulness is an excellent resource if you are looking to add meditation as a skill in your toolbox. This is a very good Great Courses series that delves deeply into the science and practice of mindfulness. Over the course of 24 lectures, Dr. Siegel provides a broad overview of how mindfulness and meditation has come into existence as a concept and then explains the evidence that shows how effective meditation is in balancing your emotions.

It is a long series, but well worth the investment if you are interested in understanding all aspects of the practice of meditation. I especially enjoyed the connection between mindfulness and wisdom. The practice of mindfulness aids in increasing the scientific definition of wisdom.

Dr. Siegel also includes additional mindfulness practice recordings at the end of the audible version and there is an accompanying pdf with the concepts in print.
