DuckDuckGo, everyone’s favourite privacy focussed browser and search engine was caught sharing user information to Microsoft back in 2022.

In an evident arrangement struck among DuckDuckGo and Microsoft, information is shared when others might have thought their web action was known only to them.

A security specialist Zach Edwards merits recognition for a report in the wake of directing a few tests. Edwards said “while DuckDuckGo blocks Google and Facebook trackers, it permitted Microsoft trackers to run”.

Insightful tests shows that the program permitted trackers connected with Bing ( Microsoft’s very own) and LinkedIn web addresses. DuckDuckGo Chief Gabriel Weinberg answered by saying that the program deliberately permits Microsoft trackers to outsider destinations as a component of terms in a partnership concurrence with Microsoft.

DuckDuckGo still claims that when we search we’re still completely anonymous and this should also count for ads and that Microsoft ads doesn’t associate your ad-click behaviour with a user profile. And unfortunately the search syndication agreement which some of us didn’t know existed prevents DuckDuckGo…
